REVEREND HANK O. TUELL, IV
Priest-in-Charge
Father Hank grew up an Army brat and has lived in 9 different states from New York to California and many states in between. He graduated from Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee in 2006 with a BS in Psychology and earned an M.Div from General Theological Seminary in 2017. Before coming to Saint John's, Fr. Hank was the Associate Priest for Community Life at Saint Matthew's Episcopal Church in Chandler, AZ. His ministry at St. Matthew's focused on new-comer and welcome ministry, outreach, Youth, Children, and Family Ministries, and Community Life.
Before Saint Matthew's Fr. Hank worked at Trinity Wall Street Church as a sacristan and Deacon, also worked as a Chaplain Assistant at Canterbury Downtown, the Episcopal Diocese of New York's College Ministry Program, and completed his seminary field education placement in the Pastoral Care Department at Trinity Wall Street.
Prior to attending seminary, Fr. Hank worked in the Information Technology Field as a Project Manager, Business Analyst, and a Systems Engineer for several technology companies. He also served as a counsellor at Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch in Billings, Montana, a residential youth treatment centre where he ran therapeutic counselling groups and developed spiritual and educational programming.
Organist & Music Director
Malik started lessons at 13 at his home church with Jennifer Shephard at the Church of the Resurrection in Queens. That also was the first church where he played a full service subbing for the organist. In 2018, He met William Randolph, Previous Music Director at Church of the Intercession in Manhattan, and studied with him until his untimely death in 2021. After that, he studied with organist Vince Carr, Director of Sacred Music at Our Lady of The Lake.
Malik started school for music in 2022 at Borough of Manhattan Community College, and was accepted into their Applied studies program, which now gave him the ability to Study with organist, Dr. Nathaniel Gumbs, Director of chapel music at Yale University. Malik will transfer to Brooklyn college, after getting his Associate's Degree. Malik was interim Organist/Music Director at many churches in Queens/Brooklyn.

On his off time, Malik enjoys doing backstage work such as lighting design. He has worked on many shows. He’s an avid fan of musicals, especially Hamilton. And loves cooking and spending time with his Partner Katherine and his dog Luna.
