Dear St. John's Family,
COVID-19 has brought enormous changes to our lives this year. We are hitting record new cases on a daily basis and is expected to grow at an alarming rate as winter approaches. Much of Staten Island has been designated as Yellow or Orange Zones by the city’s health officials. Bishop Dietsche has sent out a memorandum asking churches in the Diocese of New York to take responsibility in monitoring infection levels in our community and adopting a practice of limited attendance.
After careful consideration from the Diocese of New York, other clergy members of Staten Island’s Episcopal churches and our own vestry, we have decided to cancel all in-person worship at St. John’s Church, effective this Sunday, November, 29, 2020 until further notice. We ask for your prayers and support as we transition, once again, to a remote-only service.
Please join our remote worship by visiting http://www.facebook.com/stjohnssiny on Sunday mornings at 9:00AM for a live streaming of our Sunday worship. Additionally, you can also call 978-990-5000 (access code: 893082) to dial-in to our Sunday worship. We also ask that you check our website regularly and follow us on our Social Media Networks to keep up to date on any announcements that we can make regarding our in-person service resumption.
Thank you for your support and we will continue to provide updates as often as possible. As we start this season of Advent, let us continue to BE THE CHURCH (even virtually) and be the WAY OF LOVE, in our family, our church, community & in the world! May God bless you and your family!
Faithfully yours,
Edwina McCrimmon Warden
